Two Covers to Reveal!

Today I have not one but TWO cover reveals, for the two books I have coming out in May from Riptide.

First, coming out May 15 is my weretiger m/m romance, Forest of Thorns and Claws, with the cover designed by L.C. Chase and revealed on Love Bytes LGBTQ Book Reviews:

And second, Book 2 in the Oddities series, Fraud Twice Felt, comes out on May 29. The cover is also by L.C. Chase and revealed today on Heroes and Heartbreakers:

Yep, that’s my boy Elliot, who features prominently in this book.

ETA: Also, it seems that at least one of the books is already listed on Goodreads, so please feel free to add to your wishlists.

Day 3 Blog Tour Stops

Just a quick post today to put up the links to today’s blog tour stops for the release of Murder Once Seen, and a reminder to followers that if you want to get in on the giveaway for a $20 Riptide gift card, be sure to post a comment to one of the blog tour stops!  Also, the giveaway of a signed copy of the book continues on Goodreads.

So far it seems that the playlists for Derwin and Elliot has been the most popular post that I wrote, and today I decided I need some more music for them for Book 3, so I’m updating my iTunes with some new songs.

About Murder Once Seen

In the city of Nis, things often aren’t what they seem.

Derwin is a bounty hunter gifted with the Oddity of superhuman strength and agility—perfect for hunting down fugitives and demons who roam the streets. One killed his boyfriend two years ago, and Derwin won’t stop until he finds out who. Police suspect it was someone he sent to prison, but he can’t shake the idea that they’re missing something.

Elliot is a rentboy who’s been living on the streets since his parents disowned him. He mistrusts everyone and, given his uncontrolled ability to Read Objects and a client list that includes a major gang boss, despairs of ever having a normal life.

Derwin and Elliot meet in a storm of lust. Derwin’s Oddity is fed by the pain of others, but he only wants what’s freely given. Elliot loves pain, but needs safety and a way off the streets before he can allow it. They may be able to solve each other’s problems . . . if they can survive long enough to work together.

I’ll also put up a post sometime soon about the demons featured in Murder Once Seen and in the Oddities series, and I’ll be posting a link to a Goodreads giveaway once it goes live.

To celebrate the release of Murder Once Seen, one lucky winner will receive a $20 Riptide credit! Leave a comment on the tour stops with your contact info to enter the contest. Entries close at midnight, Eastern time, on December 17, 2016. Contest is NOT restricted to U.S. entries.

Done!! Another book turned in.

At last!  Book Two of the Oddities Series, Fraud Twice Felt, is written, has undergone the initial edits, and is off to the publisher. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the first book, Murder Once Seen, which will be on December 12. I have no idea when the second book will come out, but I’m thinking maybe some time next summer, if edits go well.

Now that Book Two is out of the way, I’ll be working on the outline for the third book, A Conspiracy Uncovered. I created a document to organize all my notes about the minor characters in the series, the world, and plot notes. Book Three will delve more into the larger plot arc spanning the entire series, but I have to be careful not to give too much away too soon. That’s always the tricky thing with mysteries. I’m going to try and write this book as quickly as possible, because I ended Book Two with a lead-in. (Not exactly a cliffhanger, but definitely a hook.)

If I’m really inspired (and Halloween tends to be a very inspirational time for me), maybe I’ll write a Derwin/Elliot drabble to post here on my blog. I’m still really loving these boys. (For more about them, see my post about Uke/Seme). Elliot in particular has really come into his own in Book Two, and I’m excited about his journey for Book Three.

In October I’ll also be making some changes to the weretiger novel that I finished months back, after a request for some developmental edits.

It’s a touch early since I’ll still be making words today, but as of now, this is where the various WIPs stand:

Current WIPs:

(1. Fraud Twice Felt [The Oddities Book 2, paranormal M/M suspense], finished at 97,470 words, edited and turned in to publisher.)–done

2. Forest of Thorns and Claws (weretiger M/M). Received the notes back from the publisher, will work on developmental edits in October.

3. Fae Fortunes (YA M/M paranormal), currently at 46,852 words, estimated 65k.

4. Deena and the Professor (Trudy Judd, BDSM romance), Seven out of 10 parts written, first 7 parts published, currently at 4442 words on Part 8 (estimated to be 9k).

5. Fantasy novel currently at 82,821 words, total will be 110k. Right now this one is the lowest of my priorities.

A bit late–March WIP wrapup

Real life was crazy last week, so I didn’t get up my monthly work in progress post. So here that is, and then later this week I’ll talk about some new characters I’m developing for the Oddities Books 4 through 6. (What are the Oddities books, you say? You’ll find out in September, when the first one comes out!)

Just to give an update on things, lately I’ve been working on edits to my weretiger novel I just finished, Forest of Thorns and Claws. I should hopefully finish that this week, and by the end of next week I expect to have it submitted to my editor. Meanwhile, I just received the line edits for Murder First Seen (The Oddities Book One) so I’m making my way through that as well. I’m more than halfway through writing the second Oddities book, which is why I’m trying to look forward and figure out how I’m going to finish Derwin and Elliot’s plot and romance arcs by the end of Book 3, and where I’ll need to be at that point for the world’s story arc. (Which brings me to the pairing who will carry books 4 through 6. But I’ll talk about that later. It’s pretty neat stuff.)

So anyways, here’s the latest on my current WIPS, as of today:

1. Forest of Thorns and Claws (weretiger M/M), Finished at 62,857 words, four more chapters left to edit.

2. Fraud Twice Felt (The Oddities Book 2, paranormal M/M suspense), now at 50,475 words, estimated to be about 90k. Due to publisher by October 1.

3. Fae Fortunes (YA M/M paranormal), currently at 39,507 words, estimated 65k.

4. Deena and the Professor (Trudy Judd, BDSM romance), Six out of 10 parts written, first 5 parts published, currently at 826 words on Part 7 (estimated to be 8k).

5. Fantasy novel currently at 79,747 words, total will be 110k. Right now this one is the lowest of my priorities.

Monthly WIP Report

Every month I like to keep people informed about what projects I’m working on, and where they are. February wasn’t a great month–most of the month, my partner was sick, and that required a lot of my time and attention. And then I got sick. On top of that, my other writing engagements (nonfiction) were extremely busy on a project that was due last week. I’m hoping March is a little smoother.

On the good side, I approved the final cover for the first Oddities book, Murder First Seen!! The cover is by Kanaxa, who also did the covers for books like Strain and Cold Fusion. She’s an amazing artist, and I’m so freaking excited to be working with her. I think we’re still set for a September release of the book.

So meanwhile in new words…

Current WIPS:

1. Forest of Thorns and Claws (weretiger M/M), now at 59,230 words. I’ve just started the last chapter, and the final should be around 63,000 words, quite a bit over my original estimate. I’m also going to be adding an afterword, because I have some things to say about nature preservation and the state of the world’s rainforests.

2. Fraud Twice Felt (The Oddities Book 2, paranormal M/M suspense), moving along well, and now at 39,221 words, estimated to be about 90k. Due to publisher by October 1.

3. Fae Fortunes (YA M/M paranormal), currently at 37,666, estimated 65k.

4. Deena and the Professor (Trudy Judd, BDSM romance), Five out of 10 parts written, first 4 parts published, currently at 3576 words on Part 6 (estimated to be 8k).

5. Fantasy novel currently at 78,940 words, total will be 110k.

Psst! It’s official…

I just wanted to make a quick announcement, now that the contract is signed.

I’m going to be a Riptide author!!

Riptide Publishing will be releasing the first two books of the Oddities series, currently entitled MURDER ONE and FRAUD AND EXTORTION, featuring bounty hunter Derwin Bryant and rentboy Elliot Leed. We’re looking at an early fall 2016 release, hopefully!

I’m so excited!!!

So yes, this means I’d better get moving on the second book….it’s currently at 22,000 words, need to get it to 90k.
